MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - WSFA 12 News sister station WMBF-TV is Florence, South Carolina has alerted us to a story involving a Troy area woman who is now charged with the 2004 death of her child while in that state.

Authorities in South Carolina arrested Courtney Sue Braddock, 27, of 124 Trojan Way in Troy and charged her with Homicide by Child Abuse.

The arrest warrant accuses Braddock of being under the influence of heroin and cocaine when she passed out holding her 5-month old daughter, though it was not immediately known exactly how the infant, named Abby, died.

Braddock also admitted on tape to being incapable of caring for her child or herself the night before the child died because she was coming on the drug Oxycontin, officials said.

A bond hearing was set for later Tuesday afternoon in Florence County South Carolina.

If convicted, Braddock could face up to 20 years in prison.
