MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama State coach Reggie Barlow has fired his offensive coordinator and line coach.
Barlow said Monday the late-season firing of coordinator Ben Noonan and line coach Eric Schnupp came about with the offense getting worse, not better.
Both coaches were in their first season with the Hornets.
Noonan had implemented a spread offense that had never taken off and was scrapped in recent weeks.
The Hornets rank ninth in scoring and total offense in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Alabama State faces Southern Saturday in the Gulf Coast Classic in Mobile. Barlow is seeking his third offensive coordinator in two years.
Assistant coach Richard Moncrief will serve as interim offensive coordinator.
Tight ends coach Antonio Bradford will work with the line.
