The town of Pike Road continues to work toward building their own school system. The town announced the results of it's new census Tuesday night. Pike Road is working to build it's own school. For that to happen the town must have at least five thousand residents. Mayor Gordon Stone announced the town is 600 short. "We're into the fourth quarter, you know we've still got about 600 opportunities still out that haven't come in yet. We're not quite at the point to having our full numbers yet," says Stone. Pike Road resident Amy Neuenschwander, "They'd be able to ride their bikes to school and have that true neighborhood experience that I had growing up and that means a lot to me."
When that day comes, Pike Road will build their first school in the waters community.
