OPELIKA, AL (WSFA) - Numerous tips in to the Lee County Crime Stoppers phone line have helped the sheriff's office find and arrest several assault suspects.

Charles Shepard Martin III, 21, of Opelika suffered serious injuries after an assault on November 7th.

Anonymous tips lead to the arrests of Matthew Wayne Horner, 19, Arthur William Wiley, 17, and Joshua Wade Dykes, 16, all of Opelika.

Deputies were called to Lee Road around 9pm Friday, November 7th where they found Martin suffering from a head injury. Authorities believe he was assaulted and possibly thrown from a vehicle.

Witnesses on the scene told police that Martin was parked on the side of the road when several males pulled up behind him. That's when witnesses say the suspects hit Martin in the back of the head. Once he was on the ground, he was repeatedly kicked in the face.

Each suspect was arrested and charged with one count of Assault Second Degree. Each has since posted a $5,000 bond and is out of jail at this time.
