LPGA announces back to back golf tourneys in Alabama for 2009

Birmingham, AL - November 19, 2008 - The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) today announced its 2009 tournament schedule and Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail will host two LPGA tournaments in back to back weeks. The Navistar LPGA Classic Presented by Maxxforce will be held Sept. 28 - Oct. 4, 2009 on the Senator Course at Prattville's Capitol Hill site on the RTJ Golf Trail. This will be directly followed by the BellMicro LPGA Classic in Mobile from Oct. 5 to 11, 2009 at Magnolia Grove's Crossings Course.

"Having back to back tournaments will be ideal for the LPGA players and should help get stronger fields for both events," said Jonathan Romeo, tournament director for the Navistar LPGA Classic Presented by Maxxforce. "With the excitement of Lorena Ochoa's win in a playoff in 2008 and the benefit of going into our third year with Navistar, the 2009 tournament should be even better. Prattville has been an excellent host city and it is paying off. Having two full weeks of international media exposure should be very beneficial to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and the entire state of Alabama."

"Mobile is in for two exciting weeks of entertainment in October next year," said Jim Johnson, tournament director of the BellMicro LPGA Classic. "Bayfest will be directly followed by the BellMicro LPGA Classic," said Johnson. "Mobile will have lots of positive exposure for two weeks straight." The Crossing Course at Magnolia Grove is now under renovation in preparation for the BellMicro tournament. "Over the years we have listened to the LPGA players and other golfers and are making improvements to the course. We are looking forward to debuting the new Crossing Course next year," said Johnson. Magnolia Grove was one of the original sites opened on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in 1992.
