Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) -- It's a gruesome end to a two week search.
"The official cause of death appears to be gunshot wounds to the body," explained Montgomery County Sheriff D.T. Marshall.
Marshall tells WSFA 12 News Carzell Tyler, Jr., 41, was reported missing early this month.
A hunter discovered his body Thursday. Authorities say his body had been there for a while.
Back in Montgomery, Darryl Kennedy owns a convenience store next to the bonding company and club Tyler co-owned with his wife.
"Every now and then he'd have a party over there, and he'll come here. Sometimes he'd leave the key with me for him to pick up," Kennedy explained.
The store owner didn't suspect anything strange until the day Tyler disappeared.
"When we last saw him, he was with two guys, got in a car and we hadn't seen him no more," Kennedy said.
With no arrests in this case, the news of his friend's death stands shrouded in mystery.
"It's a lot to process. I was hoping for the best," Kennedy said.
Deputies are following leads but won't go into detail.
