158th Return Home for Holiday

Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) --  Nearly 200 Alabama families have a special reason to give thanks Thursday.

Early Thursday morning the soldiers of the 158th Support Maintenance Company returned home to celebrate thanksgiving.

Jim Gartland says there's no place like home for the holidays.

"It's relief it feels good to be home," says Gartland.

His wife Linda agrees.

"Make the time wisely, spend it wisely," she explained.

Linda and others worked hard to raise money so these solider's could be home for the holiday.

Jim and the rest of the 158th rode through the night arriving around 3 A.M.

"Long, long but we knew we were going to be rewarded at the end," said Gartland.

Now that the solider's are back they're looking relax and enjoy the comforts of home.

"We know that they worked real hard not just them but the community," said Gartland.

Linda says, "We are grateful for every thing that they did to help make it, the dream come true that they did get to come home with us."

"And we're very blessed," Gartland added.

Once the solider's return to Indiana they will resume training before they head to Iraq five days before Christmas.
