Shoppers out in full force in Montgomery

Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) -- If you were out at all Friday, you no doubt noticed the increase in traffic and busy shopping malls all over the area. Some people were up as early as four this morning to get the best deals of the year so far.

Eastdale Mall opened its doors bright and early at 5:00 this morning.  Retailers are doing all they can to entice consumers: extending store hours and slashing prices on everything from high priced electronics to popular toys. For Eastdale Mall's holiday hours log on to www.shopmalls.com.

It was similar scene at The Shoppes at Eastchase the Friday after Thanksgiving. Stores didn't open quite as early as some other places, but shoppers still hit the stores looking for bargains, and found some good deals. The Shoppes are open on until 9:00 p.m. on weekdays and for a complete list of holiday hours check out www.theshoppesateastchase.com.

Even with concerns over the economy, experts predict "Black Friday" will still be one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

The National Retail Federation says 128 million Americans are going to do some kind of shopping this weekend. That's down from the 135 million who hit the stores last year - but still about half the U.S. population.
