Montgomery kindergartner struck by car

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - An E.D. Nixon Elementary School kindergartner taken to an area hospital after being struck by an automobile is doing ok says Montgomery Police Department spokesman Captain Huey Thornton.

Montgomery Public Schools spokesman Tom Salter tells WSFA 12 News the male student was hit by a car shortly after school at the intersection of E.D. Nixon Avenue and Columbia Avenue.

The boy apparently walked out in front of the vehicle, which was moving at approximately 10mph.

Thankfully, Thornton says the student didn't suffer any physical injuries and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Charges are not expected in this accident, as investigators say it appears the driver was not at fault.
