East Alabama town's charter dissolved

An East Alabama town is off the map! The Chambers County Commission voted to dissolve the charter for Fredonia.

On Tuesday, residents took their fight to court. Some county commissioners and residents plead their case before a judge.  After nearly two hours of testimony, the judge upheld the vote.

Our East Alabama newspartner WTVM reports residents will have the opportunity to appeal.

Fredonia has been around since 1840, but there's been no organized city government, mayor or council for the last 132 years.  There's no official population count.
