Helicopter facility expanding in Andalusia

ANDALUSIA, AL (WSFA) - A new helicopter facility means more economic development in the city of Andalusia.

The Vector Aerospace Corporation celebrated the grand opening of its newest helicopter and repair center Wednesday.

The company has been in Covington County since 2004, but this new facility adds about 20,000 square feet of space and brings additional jobs to the area.

Governor Riley says the facility is only the beginning of Alabama's aviation future.

"You're going to continue to see this happen all across the state of Alabama," Riley said, "You're going to see Alabama almost become an epicenter of aviation aerospace, and particularly as it revolves around the military."

This is Vector's fifth facility devoted to helicopter refurbishing.

There are plans to expand the Andalusia facility again in the next three years.
