ABI, FBI investigate racial threats at Ala. church

HOLLIS CROSSROADS, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the FBI are looking into two threatening notes left at a Cleburne County church, one of which contained a racial slur.

Joseph Brown, the pastor at Anointed Deliverance Christian Center in Hollis Crossroads, said workers found the second note at the door Monday.

The author, using a racial slur, wrote that he would shoot people at the predominantly black church.

Brown said the notes had the same handwriting.

Church daycare workers kept the doors locked Wednesday.

The church closed its daycare center Nov. 26 after the first note was found at the front door.

Brown said he believes the man who left the note was the same person who walked into the church foyer on Nov. 25 and left when employees questioned him.

He declined to describe the man because of the ongoing investigation.
