LAMP High ranks fifth in nation for best magnet school

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Students at Loveless High School in Montgomery have something to be proud of. The school is now ranked fifth in the nation by U.S. News and World Report for "Best Magnet High School in America."

The ranking comes just a week after the publication named LAMP 25th best high school in America.

We continue to find so many great things to celebrate," said MPS Superintendent John Dilworth. "Mrs. Norman, her staff, students and their parents have worked so hard. They deserve these  recognitions."

The other four schools in the list were from Miami, FL, Charleston, SC, Limestone, ME, and New Orleans, LA.

This isn't the school's first time on a list of bests. It placed in the top 100 high schools in America last spring and made the top 25 list this fall.

There are approximately 4,000 magnet and themed schools in the nation according to the Department of Education.

Other area schools on the U.S. News and World Report's nation's best list include: Booker T. Washington High, Carver High and Brewbaker Technology High schools.
