Auburn Police arrest two burglary suspects, searches for third

AUBURN, AL., (WSFA) -- Auburn Police Division responded to a burglary in progress call at a residence located in the 2700 block of Lee Road 12.

A witness to the crime gave responding officers a description of the suspect vehicle and direction it was travelling. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Webster Road at which time the occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers were able to apprehend two of the three suspects involved in the burglary.

Arrested were Eldrico M. Avery, age 32, of Auburn and Carlton J. Lampley, Jr., age 24, of Opelika, Alabama. Each has been charged with two counts of Burglary 3rd Degree and Theft of Property 2nd Degree.

Stolen property was recovered from the suspect's vehicle. The men are believed to be connected to a second residential burglary that occurred about the same time in the same area.

Avery and Lampley were transported to the Lee County Detention Center where they are awaiting bond. A third suspect, described only as a white male, remains at large. Anyone with information regarding this crime or the identity of the suspect at large is asked to call the Auburn Police Division at (334) 501-3140 or anonymously on the tip line at (334) 501-7337.
