BAY MINETTE, Ala. (AP) - A Baldwin County judge has set bail two men arrested in a string of bank heists who are considered flight risks.
Bail was set Friday at $2 Million for 46-year-old Jerald Dean Godwin and $1 Million for 34-year-old Sidney Eugene Clark. The two face 20 to 99 years in prison if convicted. They are accused of being part of a four-man group that police believe robbed four banks over the last four months, including one in Lowndes County.
Baldwin County Sheriff Huey "Hoss" Mack Jr. said prosecutors asked for higher bail for Godwin because he threatened investigators and their families.
Investigators also said the two men were flight risks because they traveled to Honduras after the first two robberies in August.
