WASHINGTON (AP) - Vice President-elect Joe Biden will oversee the Obama administration's effort to find ways of building up the ranks of the middle class.
The Obama transition team announced today that four Cabinet members and other presidential advisers will be included in a task force. Biden says the goal is to recommend proposals to ensure the middle class is "no longer being left behind."
In a statement released today, Biden says the task force will be charged with looking at the impact of existing and future policies on middle-class families to see whether they are prospering. Biden says he and the president-elect know "the economic health of working families has eroded" and they "intend to turn that around."
Biden says the measure of economic success in an Obama administration will be whether the middle class is growing.
