8 arrested in sneakers robbery

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Eight men are in custody after they allegedly robbed a group of teenagers camped outside a store waiting for deals on Air Jordan sneakers.

The incident happened just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday at the Foot Locker located on Bessemer Road.

Officers responded to the scene, and about one hour later, they spotted the suspects cars at a gas station.

Arrested were 22-year-old Jaron Battle; three 19-year-olds - Scozzaro Beverly Torrey Montgomery and Philiah Ansley, and four 18-year-olds - Alex McCracklin, Jadarrious Tellis, Cadarrius Adams, and Timothy Davis.

All were held on multiple robbery charges.

Police say money, weapons, and other property were recovered.
