Covering Autauga County: Prattville Sales Tax Revenues Up

Prattville, AL (WSFA) - While sales tax revenues in the capital city are dropping, down a whopping 14% in November over the same period in 2007, a city just north of Montgomery is seeing no such declines.

Prattville Mayor Jim Byard tells WSFA 12 News the city is reporting a 13% increase in sales tax revenue.

In November Prattville businesses collected around $1.15 million, up around $133,000 from the same period in 2007.

Byard credits the increase to a number of new stores opening in the area along Cobbs Ford Road.

Byard says he doesn't plan any service cuts or layoffs as long as the city does well financially.
