Pickens County, AL (WSFA) - The recent rainfall leaves a tragic mark in west Alabama.
A mother and her son are dead after Tuesday night's heavy rains made some roads dangerous to drive on.
The mother and her son were swept away by rushing flood waters when a culvert burst and carried away their car. It happened in Pickens County. Troopers say the victims were following a relatives car on Antioch Road when the culvert burst, washing their 1996 Chevy Tahoe several hundred yards down stream.
Family members of the victims were on the scene when the car was recovered. The victims have been identified as 27-year-old Crystal Dawn Vaughn of Gordo and 18-month-old Christopher Malachi Vaughn.
