WSFA 12 News Confirms Hyundai On "Flexible Schedule" Now

Montgomery, AL (WSFA)  - Hyundai confirms to WSFA 12 News it is making schedule changes, due to the bad economy.

Hyundai has implemented a "flexible work schedule depending on customer demand during the month of January." However, their spokesman wouldn't comment on exactly what that means.

WSFA 12 News visited the plant Thursday morning and got video of a nearly empty parking lot.
Hyundai tells WSFA 12 News,  that is because they are shut down Thursday and Friday.

The question is that permanent? Since our 5 and 6pm newscasts WSFA 12 News received numerous calls from people claming to be employees. They all tell the same story. They say they were told to work 8 hours on Monday and Tuesday and between 6 and 7 hours on Wednesday. They would be off Thursday and Friday. Hyundai won't confirm that claim.

What Hyundai will say is that employees will be able to take vacation or personal days to make up any lost hours.

WSFA 12 News is also told there is a backlog of 2008 Santa Fe's which are made in Montgomery, and a national sale will start next month.
