Willie Cook Joins Race for Montgomery Mayor

Montgomery, AL (WSFA) - Another candidate has announced his plans to run for mayor of Montgomery. District 6 City Councilman Willie Cook has served in office for 9 years.

Cook says he's helped put together the crime free weekend and sales tax holiday for the city. Cook says he believes the citizens of the capital city all want the same thing. Cook says, "We all have the same basic needs. Everybody needs safety and security. Everybody wants the ability to provide for themselves and their families and everybody wants the ability for self fulfillment.  So we as government need to make sure the ground is fertile for those things to happen and that's what our drive will be in our administration."

Other potential candidates for the mayor's job include County Commission Chairman Todd Strange, businessman Scott Simmons and Jon Dow, and mayoral assistant Michael Briddell.
