Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) -- Several folks exercised their First Amendment right Saturday on the steps of the State Capitol.
The group of mostly teenagers were protesting the Defense of Marriage Act, which prevents the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages.
Organizer Daniel Davis says, "Gay people deserve the same rights a black people, Jewish, Christian and until we get the same equal rights I'm going to keep fighting."
The protest was part of a nationwide movement taking place at several state capitols.
