WASHINGTON, DC (WSFA) -- Congressman Bobby Bright received his subcommittee assignments on the House Armed Services Committee yesterday. Bright will serve on the Air and Land Forces; the Readiness; and the Terrorism and Unconventional Threats and Capabilities Subcommittees.
"I am extremely excited to be named to these subcommittees," Bright said. "They are very important for both Fort Rucker and Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base in the Second District. The Air and Land Forces Subcommittee has jurisdiction over the bases in my district, and the Readiness Subcommittee oversees the BRAC Commission process. I would like to thank Chairman Skelton for these assignments and I look forward to working with members of the Armed Services Committee to honor the men and women who protect America."
The Subcommittee on Air and Land Forces has jurisdiction over all Army and Air Force acquisition programs (except strategic missiles, special operations, and information technology programs). In addition, the subcommittee is responsible for deep strike bombers and related systems, National Guard and Army and Air Force reserve modernization, and ammunition programs.
The Subcommittee on Readiness oversees military readiness, training, logistics and maintenance issues and programs. It is also responsible for all military construction, installations and family housing issues, including the base closure process (BRAC Commission), and energy policy and programs of the Department of Defense.
