The drive to Bourbon Street just got a whole lot closer. And don't start heading toward New Orleans, this party is heading to Alex City.
"I just wanted something different for Alex City," owner Larry Tuggle said. An old antique store building burned in 2001 and in 2005 Tuggle took over. He always had a passion for the Crescent City and thought he could create his own little indoor Bourbon Street. "I've always enjoyed New Orleans with the ironwork so I thought I could make it look like a street in New Orleans."
So Tuggle went to old rundown homes and started salvaging all the wood and supplies he could. He also took several trips to the Big Easy to take pictures of the wrought iron and all the fancy designs in the French Quarter. And just like New Orleans, his indoor street has a view from above. "I knew I'd have to have a second story to give it a New Orleans look."
The only thing missing on this street is the wild parties but you can rent out the facility if you want for your own private event. Call the Alex City Chamber of Commerce for more information.
