Plane takes off again after landing on Highway 331

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - An airplane that landed on a busy stretch of U.S. 331 late Tuesday evening is back in the air today.

The small plane landed in the middle of the road just south of Montgomery after the pilot said he was losing fuel from one of the wings' tanks.

The plane was en route from Daytona to Montgomery Aviation when the landing occurred.

Officials with the FAA were on the scene Wednesday to inspect the plane which was pulled into a nearby shop for the night.

After the FAA gave the plane a clean bill of health, Alabama state troopers closed off a stretch of the road once again and let the pilot take off.
