An investigator said Stafford became a person of interest after the victim said he threatened to set her house on fire.
Stafford was linked to a fire that was set in the woman's front yard.
The attempted murder charge was filed after the victim told deputies Stafford poured gasoline on her and tried to set her on fire.
That incident occurred on Jan. 12. The woman was not hurt.
Stafford remains in the Dale County Jail on bonds totaling $75,000.
