Update on injured Montgomery police officer

Officer Joshuah Broadway Officer Joshuah Broadway

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - WSFA 12 News contacted the Montgomery Police Department Thursday in an effort to learn the current condition of injured police officer Joshuah Broadway.

Captain Huey Thornton says a week after the officer was rushed to Jackson Hospital for life threatening injuries sustained in a traffic accident Broadway's condition is the same: Critical.

Officer Broadway was traveling through an intersection at Virginia Loop Road and U.S. 231 when another vehicle struck his patrol car and slammed it into a utility pole.

No charges have been filed against the other driver and police believe the incident was  an accident. No drugs or alcohol were found at the scene.

Meanwhile, WSFA 12 News has learned that a fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday afternoon to raise money for Broadway's family.

The fundraiser is set for 2:00pm at the Woodside Glenn Apartments and all proceeds will go to the Joshauh Broadway Assistance Fund.

Donations can also be made at any Wachovia Bank branch under that name as well.
