Victoryland Expands in Shorter

Victoryland dog track and Quincy's 777 gaming center doesn't appear to be suffering in this tough economy. In fact, while many companies are cutting back or closing Victoryland is expanding.

There is now a west wing in Shorter. Victoryland has extended its gaming facility westward by adding on 56-thousand square feet. The ribbon cutting was held Monday morning. According to Victoryland, the addition now makes it the largest pari-mutuel, class II, bingo facility in the world. It now has 6-thousand gaming machines. The west wing also includes a nightclub with live entertainment. More expansions are in the works.

The racetrack has been open in Shorter since 1984.  The bingo machines were added about 8 years ago after voters approved a constitutional amendment.
