Inside Alabama's Legislature: Deal apparently done for new Senate #2

On Thursday, Alabama's Democratic party leadership met, and apparently worked out a deal to decide who will fill the number 2 position in the State Senate.

WSFA 12 News caught up with some of the Senate Democrats headed into a meeting at the Alabama Education Building in downtown Montgomery. WSFA 12 News is told they agreed to allow Jefferson County's Senator Rodger Smitherman become the next President Pro Tem.

Earlier, WSFA 12 News had been told Marshall County Senator Hinton Mitchem was not willing to step down from that position. But, in the end, the state's top Democrat, Lt. Gov. Jim Folsom says now is not the time for internal bickering.
