Georgia announces 17 signees, waits word on others

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Georgia bolstered its recruiting class Wednesday with a last-minute commitment from Marlon Brown, one of the nation's most sought-after receivers.

Having already locked up 17 signees, the Bulldogs waited nervously for Brown to make his televised announcement in Memphis, Tenn. The 6-foot-6 receiver chose Georgia over Ohio State, Tennessee and Mississippi. Even before Brown's announcement, coach Mark Richt was touting a recruiting class that included a pair of quarterbacks, Aaron Murray of Tampa, Fla., and Zach Mettenberger of Watkinsville, Ga.

Those two have already have enrolled at the school in hopes of bolstering their chances to replace Matthew Stafford, who entered the NFL draft after his junior season. Now, they'll be able to throw to another top receiver.
