Big Oak Ranch founder Croyle injured skiing

GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) - John Croyle, the founder of Big Oak Ranch Inc., which has provided a home for abused children for three decades, was injured in a snow-skiing accident in Colorado but planned to keep his speaking schedule.

The ranch's executive secretary, Connie Reeves, said he was injured Tuesday while trying to avoid a collision with a person on a snowboard.

The Gadsden Times reported Thursday that friends of Croyle, a former Alabama football player, sent e-mails saying his shoulder was broken in two places and he had a severe groin muscle injury, but Reeves could not confirm that.

Reeves said Croyle planned to keep a speaking engagement Thursday in Montgomery and another in Mississippi on Friday.
