Ala. man arrested in sex-for-car-payment case

FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Officials say a second man has been arrested in connection with a reported plan to exchange sexual favors for a car payment.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Ronnie Willis said 49-year-old Timothy Swen Crum of Florence was arrested Tuesday on rape and sexual abuse charges.

In January, 32-year-old Robert Mitchell Marks also of Florence was arrested on the same charges.

Marks was accused of arranging a sexual encounter between Crum and a woman, according to reports.

The rape allegedly occurred May 9 at Marks' trailer home near St. Florian.

According to investigators, Marks bought a vehicle from Crum, who suggested he arrange a sexual encounter with a woman when he couldn't make a payment.

The woman said she refused to participate in Crum's plan but was forced into a bedroom and raped.
