Montgomery Public Schools announces job cuts

Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) -- The shortfall in the state education budget is forcing more cuts at Montgomery Public Schools.

Superintendent John Dilworth confirmed the news Thursday during Auburn Montgomery's Business Breakfast.

Dilworth says the system will release all non-tenured teachers at the end of the school year.   However, Dilworth said  Montgomery Public Schools will hold a job fair in April and he hopes he will able to hire all of the non-tenured teachers back.

Dilworth also talked about how tough the decision was to close those three elementary schools, but said it was the best decision for system as a whole.
