DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - Houston County authorities found a couple dead in their home on U.S. Highway 231 South after a report of gunfire.
Sheriff Andy Hughes said deputies found the bodies of John and Carolyn Coskrey on Tuesday afternoon, both dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
Hughes declined to release any details on the shootings, but said he believes there is no danger to the public.
A press conference is set for Wednesday.
Shocked friends and family members stood outside the brick home about a mile south of Saunders Road as investigators collected evidence.
The Coskreys previously owned land where the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds are now located.
Coskrey held several events on the land before the Peanut Festival moved from the Houston County Farm Center to its current location.
