Guest Editorial: Opportunities

Opportunities of a lifetime must be seized in the lifetime of the opportunity...in other

words, once your window of opportunity closes, it may never open again.  Too, there is a

Latin phrase, carpe diem meaning "seize the moment."

Each day, we are presented with opportunity after opportunity, and often times we either

don't know its there, or we ignore it, or could it be we just don't care and don't want to

give up our old behavior of always having something to complain about. 

As we move forward into this unknown journey called 2009, let each of us examine

ourselves to see where we are, where we want to be, and what it will take to get there.

Don't be afraid to step outside of your normal comfort zone.  Reach out to someone whose

race and speech may be different, someone who may also have the same fears and

apprehensions you have to extend a hand of friendship and love.  Look beyond yourself,

after all, life is not about us, it's about what we're able to give to others.
