DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - Four female students at Decatur High School are facing possible assault charges after they allegedly jumped on twin sisters in the cafeteria during breakfast.
Assistant Principal Stan Carr broke up the fight that began about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, and a student resource officer arrested the four after an investigation.
Principal Mike Ward said all six involved were either sophomores or freshmen.
He said the sisters were sent home with an excused absence to allow the situation to cool down.
Assistant Principal Mary Hillis told The Decatur Daily she believes the conflict was about a boy.
Ward said the four girls will go to the Center for Alternatives to Suspension for five to 10 days pending an investigation.
They could face suspension or expulsion.
