$1 million bond for accused sex offender

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A Montgomery man was being held on a high bond following his arrest on several sex-related charges for incidents involving underaged girls.

Prattville Police arrested 36-year-old James Bernard Brown Monday afternoon.

Prattville Police Chief Alfred Wadsworth said Brown was charged with multiple counts of sodomy, sexual abuse and a single count of rape.

He declined to say what led to the initial arrest. Brown also faces similar charges in Montgomery.

Major Huey Thornton, a Montgomery police spokesman, said Brown will be charged with at least six additional counts of sexual abuse involving children.

He was being held in the Autauga County Jail on $1 million bond.
