John Dilworth Coverage: Comparing Baton Rouge's School System and Montgomery's School System

Montgomery's School Superintendent John Dilworth is applying for a job to be the superintendent at East Baton Rouge Parish's school system.

So what does East Baton Rouge Parish school district have to offer Dilworth? WSFA 12 News made some calls to find out.

The outgoing superintendent makes around 230-thousand dollars a year. That includes a car allowance, and insurance. The system is the largest in Louisiana, and isn't in proration due to a recent tax change there. In fact, WSFA 12 News is told they have a budget surplus. The East Baton Rouge system has 88 school sites, 44-thousand students, and 6-thousand employees. The system recently closed 2 older schools, and by this August they will have opened 3 new schools.

In Montgomery, John Dilworth's current salary is 190-thousand dollars. That is if you include his car allowance, insurance and retirement. Montgomery has over 32,000 students in 58 schools. However, two schools will close in May.

Montgomery has 4 new schools are in the works. Montgomery County schools have over 65-hundred employees, but that number may be cut due to proration.
