DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - A Dothan area school principal is on administrative leave after being arrested.

The Dothan Police Department took Dothan High School Principal Andrew Sewell into custody Thursday evening on a warrant for Contributing to the Deliquency of a Minor.

Sewell was booked in the Dothan City Jail but later transferred to the Houston County Jail.

Investigators say the minor, who is not identified, was a student at the school.

Police are not providing specifics on what they believe happened between Sewell and the student but will say the case is ongoing. Additional charges are also possible according to Police Chief John Powell.

Bond was set at $6,000, thought it was not immediately known if Sewell had posted the amount.

WSFA 12 News will have more information as it becomes available.
