Wiregrass Newsroom: Wiregrass 2-1-1 eases search for help

By Daniel Curtis - bio | email

Dothan, Ala. (WSFA) - There are over 16,000 non profit, state, faith-based and community organizations in Alabama providing a wide range of services.

When times are tough it can be hard trying to find out which ones can help you, but there's a free and easy way to answer your question.

"Sometimes its difficult to understand what all 2-1-1 does, it's like a one stop shop for information," explains David Duke, Executive Director of the Wiregrass 2-1-1.

2-1-1 is designed to connect people with information about health and human services in their communities.

"We have resources when people call us. We know places that we can use to help them," says Duke.

The wiregrass 2-1-1 covers seven counties in southeast Alabama.

Callers can talk with real people who can assist them with the resources they need, 24-hours

"You're going to find someone on the other end of the phone that's going to be compassionate, caring, and understanding," says Duke.  "I guarantee you they're going to want to do anything they can to be able to help you find resources or whatever the need is you have going on."

2-1-1 reaches over 243 million people across the country and it's completely free.

If dialing 2-1-1 does not work on your phone, simply dial 1-877-900-GETINFO toll free for assistance.
