Guilty plea in deaths of children tossed from bridge

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A Vietnamese refugee accused of tossing his four young children to their deaths from a coastal Alabama bridge has asked to plead guilty and be put to death.

Lam Luong told a state court judge in Mobile on Thursday that he wanted to plead quilty in the deaths at Dauphin Island Bridge on Jan. 8, 2008.

He also asked for the death penalty. 

He had been charged with capital murder and his trial scheduled to start Monday.

Workng with an interpreter, Circuit Judge Charles Graddick questioned the 37-year-old Luong and said he was prepared to accept the plea.

It wasn't immediately clear when a formal order would be issued.
