Ala. Grocers Association launches new website

BIRMINGHAM, AL -- The Alabama Grocers Association is proud to announce the launching of a new website called www.EatAtHomeAlabama.com. This website was created as a tool for consumers to learn how to save money, eat healthier, safely prepare and store foods, discover the joys and benefits of eating at home and to promote the grocery industry in the state of Alabama.

On this site there are topics on: Why eat at home; Ways to save money; All about coupons; Recipes to feed a family of four for around $20; a list of Alabama products; a chart on when fruits and vegetables are in season; Recall information; and a food safety section with tips on storing food in your refrigerator and freezer as well as tips on keeping fruits and vegetables fresh. Each month will feature a new sponsor as well as new recipes.

With consumers feeling the pinch of tough economic times, this web site will promote the grocery industry in Alabama while teaching consumers how they can stretch their food budget by using a few simple tips like eating at home, using coupons, and preparing money saving recipes.

The Alabama grocery community will also be promoting this site by printing www.EatAtHomeAlabama.com on the bottom of their receipts, adding links to their websites and putting up signage at the register and in the store, so that consumers will know where to go to for money saving tips.

Be sure to look for the Eat At Home Alabama logo at your local Alabama grocery stores. For more information on this website, please contact Ellie Smotherman Taylor, President, Alabama Grocers Association at 800-844-2391 or by e-mailing etaylor@alabamagrocers.org.
