Troopers urge Spring Break caution

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - If you plan to join the hordes of students headed to the beach over the spring break vacation period, better obey all traffic laws.

Alabama state troopers urge young people to drive with extreme care and caution.

Colonel J. Christopher Murphy, Public Safety Director, offers the following tried-and-true safety tips:

- use seat belts on each and every trip
- obey speed limits and all traffic laws
- avoid drinking and driving
- keep focused on the roadway, other motorists and your surroundings; don't be distracted.

Troopers plan to step up patrol activity in so-called high traffic areas or hot spots.
