First Alert: More weekend rain expected, but it’s not a washout

Scattered showers on radar tonight, Sunday possible, but even more rain is anticipated through New Year’s Day...

Amanda's Saturday evening update

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - After 3-6 inches of rain across a big chunk of our area, we’re getting a much-deserved break in the wet pattern.

As of this evening, both coverage and intensity of any rain popping up on radar isn’t overwhelming... so we have gotten a short break from the widespread, heavy shower and storm activity, but could there be more on the way soon?

While additional accumulating rain is possible both tonight and tomorrow, it will generally be just a few light showers on/off throughout.

Otherwise, we’re mild by late December standards in the 50s tonight under a mostly cloudy sky.

Our next chance of seeing a good helping of rain arrives by Monday...

The afternoon and evening of New Year’s Eve could be wet for the majority of our area as another passing frontal boundary slides through Alabama, so as of right now having a back-up plan inside would be smart if you plan on ringing in 2019!
