The Dale County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide.

DALE COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - The Dale County Sheriff’s office says the shooting case that resulted in the death of an Enterprise man Thursday will be presented to a grand jury.

According to Chief Deputy Mason Bynum, 54-year-old Mark Hausfelder died after a dispute between he and another party led to a shooting.

The shooting happened around 6 p.m. in the 300 block of Meriwether Road in Level Plains. Bynum says multiple 911 calls were made by neighbors who reported hearing several gunshots.

When they arrived at the scene, deputies found Hausfelder lying in the driveway of a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Bynum says deputies began life-saving measures on Hausefelder but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The other person involved in the dispute remained at the scene until law enforcement arrived and was interviewed by investigators. Bynum says no charges are being filed at this time.

The case will be presented to the Dale County District Attorney’s Office and presented to a grand jury at a later date.
