Victim of fatal I-65 crash in Lowdnes County identified

LOWNDES COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - A 54-year-old man was killed in a crash on Interstate 65 in Lowdnes County Monday.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Carl Evans was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving struck a 2004 Kenworth before leaving the road and striking a tree. The tractor-trailer then caught fire and was a total loss.

Evans was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on I-65 near the 157 mile marker, about 11 miles south of Montgomery.

I-65 was closed for hours while emergency crews worked the scene.
