AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - The revitalization of Opelika Road is a major project on the City of Auburn’s to-do list, and now a portion of that project is nearing completion.
“We started here, I would say, in May of 2018 with all the earthwork and the groundwork. We started building here on the fifth of October is when we started on phase one and now we are on to phase two and we need to finish by the 15th of June,” says project Manager, Riaan Venter.
The Midtown Auburn housing community will feature a mix of one and two bedroom lofts, three and four bedroom duplexes and stand alone cottages.
“I think it’s going to look very beautiful,” says Venter. “What we’re trying to do here is to do a mixed residential and commercial, but the building style is also beautiful.”
He says that this is expected to be a place that attracts young adults and will offer amenities that they’ll enjoy.
"The design aspect that we’ve got here is like 30A. People are going to walk around. There’s going to be restaurants. It’ll be a really easy place for young people to live. So students and young professionals that come here, they can have place where they can go the restaurants, there’s going to be a place where they can play in the evening. Everything on one spot and it makes it much safer for everyone to be in this area.”
Midtown Auburn is currently accepting leasing applications for this Fall.
