MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A car chase that turned into a foot chase in Montgomery Tuesday ended with the arrests of two men suspected of committing multiple bank robberies.
Tuesday morning, the Montgomery Police Department, Greenville Police Department and FBI were conducting an investigation when it turned into a car chase.
The pursuit ended when the suspects crashed their vehicle but escaped on foot. The two were eventually captured, arrested and charged with several crimes.
They have been identified as James Matthews, 52, and Albert Dorsey, 45, both of Montgomery.
According to Greenville Police Chief Justin Lovvorn, one of the suspects already had a warrant for first-degree robbery out for his arrest.
Lovvorn said evidence collected from the Bankcorp South robbery last Thursday identified one of the men as a suspect. Greenville police also suspect the second man in last Thursday’s robbery as well.
Lovvorn said the investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected. He said the Matthews and Dorsey are suspects in multiple bank robberies in different jurisdictions.
Both Matthews and Dorsey have been plaved in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
