Additional funeral plans announced for fallen Birmingham officer

Preparing to say goodbye to Sgt. Carter

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Additional funeral plans for Birmingham police officer Wytasha Carter have been announced.

Carter was shot and killed while on duty early Sunday morning.

The Birmingham Police Department released the following update:

“A Police Procession will take place Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 9:15 am. Line-up will occur in the parking lot of the Pinnacle Square Shopping Center located at 5000 Pinnacle Square Birmingham, Alabama 35235. (Can also be located in Google Maps at 1600 Gadsden Highway Trussville, Alabama 35173). The procession will depart the location promptly at 10:00 am in route to the Legacy Arena. The procession will be lead with Sergeant Carter’s patrol vehicle.

Carter’s visitation will be Friday at Ridouts Trussville Chapel from noon until 6 p.m. Trussville’s mayor says the city’s police department will direct traffic on Highway 11, while Birmingham officers will be on site to help direct parking.
