TROY, AL (WSFA) - Chip Lindsey has made the final hire to his on-field staff. Thursday, the hiring of Ray Brown was announced.
Brown will coach on the defensive side of the ball, but staff roles have yet to be assigned.
He comes from Abilene Christian where he spent the last three seasons beefing up their secondary. Brown served as the defensive backs coach and under his watch, the Wildcats saw their best season yet defensively. The Wildcats set a school record for interceptions with 13, and were led by All-Southland Conference player Adonis Davis who had four interceptions of his own.
“Ray will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our program and is a great addition to our strong defensive staff,” said Lindsey. “He is a respected recruiter across many parts of the country including Florida and Mississippi. Ray has a strong background coaching and developing high-level defensive players, and we’re excited to welcome Ray and his family to Troy.”
“My family and I are excited to join the Trojan Family,” said Brown. “I appreciate Coach Lindsey for giving me this opportunity. I look forward to being part of an incredible program and working alongside great coaches. We have talented players and great character here, and I’m excited for the future of Trojan Football.”
Last season the Trojans finished tied for fifth in the country with 18 interceptions.
